The Appalachian Quilt Trail

The AQT is a celebration of all things local! Communities everywhere are falling in love with quilts and barns and the idea that the small act of hanging a wooden quilt square on one building has grown into an international movement. The AQT is a collaboration among several groups and trails to connect local trails so your excursion will be easier and more rewarding. Simply put, we want you to be able to find all the wonderful works of art and discover all the hidden ... and not so hidden .... treasures along the way. There are seven quilt squares in Hamblen County. See if you can find them all.

Tennessee Civil War Trails

The Tennessee Civil War Trails program is part of a five-state system that encourages the exploration of both well-known and less-familiar sites associated with the Civil War. The Tennessee trails journey across the state with several of the designated locations situated within Morristown and the surrounding area. Each site can be explored at your own pace, and many offer other historical and recreation opportunities. Hundreds of antique and specialty shops can be found on the trails, in addition to taverns and restaurants, preserved battlefields and much more. The Bethesda Church and the General Longstreet Museum are part of the Civil War Trail in East Tennessee.

White Lightning Trail

Get ready for White Lightning - 200 miles of unique American stories told every day through Appalachian arts and crafts, preserved buildings and sites, historic town squares and the tales of legendary characters. The trail gets its name from the area’s history as a prohibition-era, moonshine-running corridor. Rebels careened around the curves of "Thunder Road," transporting illegal, homemade corn whiskey under the cover of darkness.
