Festivals and Events reflect the heart, soul and heritage of a community.  Morristown is filled with a rich history and many groups and individuals who work tirelessly to keep our story alive.  Some of our outstanding events are listed below.

US 11 Antique Alley - May 17-20, 2012 

US 11 Antique Alley visitors can enjoy seeking their special "treasures" along the way while enjoying some homespun fun in Hamblen County.  Click on the link for a map detailing all the Happenin's in Hamblen County from the Strawberry Festival, Pickin in the Park, General Longstreet Civil War Museum, Davy Crockett Museum, Historic Downtown with tons of shopping including lots of antiques to an Armed Forces Day Tribute.  There is always something happenin' in Hamblen.  Be sure to check out Historic Downtown where the antique and specialty shopping is awesome.

5th Annual Armed Forces Day at Cherokee Park will be held from 9 am to 5 pm.  Don't miss this wonderful event designed to honor veterans and current military friends.  For more information, visit tcacveterans@bellsouth.net 

East Tennessee All Nations Gathering is set for May 4 - 6, 2012.  This event is designed to honor all indigenous Nations with storytelling, traditional Intertribal dancing, tipis and lodges tours, native made Indian Fry Bread and other traditional foods, and arts and crafts of all kinds. For more information, call Robert Onondaga Davy at 423-312-4805.

Nolichucky Vineyard's Bridal Extravaganza is scheduled for April 29, 2012 at the beautiful Nolichucky Vineyard nestled along the bank of the pristing Nolichucky River.  More than 50 vendors will be on hand to offer ideas, suggestions, demonstrations on how to create the most perfect and memorable outdoor wedding.  This FREE event will run from Noon to 5 p.m.  For anyone wishing to serve wine as part of their dream wedding, we will have at least five (5) wineries onsite to showcase their finest wines.  There is a $5 fee for the wine tastings, and photo ID is required for the tastings.  For more information, contact Sabrina Long at 423-231-7778.

Panther Creek's Music in the Park - Spoone Shelter - The West Hamblen Fire Department and the Friends of Panther Creek State Park will host the “Music in the Park” series at the Spoone Pavilion each Thursday this May beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Anyone who would like to sing or play an instrument is welcome to join in the music making. This free family event will continue each Thursday this summer. Please join us for some music, snacks and fun.

Gourmet Gala is set for April 27, 2012 at Rose Center.  This is a spectacular evening with a full course gourmet meal, specially created for the event.  Live musical entertainment throughout the eveing, and dancing after dinner.  All proceeds support Rose Center's programming.  For more information, visit www.rosecenter.org or call 423-581-4330.

Taste of Home Cooking School will be held on April 19, 2012 at Walters State Community College in Morristown.  National Cooking Magazine presents the school to create around ten culinary selections.  Tickets are $10 which includes admission to the Expo featuring 25 area vendors.  The Expo will be held from 5-7 p.m. with the Cooking Show running 7-9 p.m.  For more information, please visit www.citizentribune.com or contact Ann Hale at 423-581-5630 ext. 339.

Spring Thyme in the Garden Herb and Craft Fair will be held on April 28, 2012 and is sponsored by Rose Center.  A celebration of Spring with plant sale, live music, handmade crafts for garden and home, and luncheon.  All events take place on the grounds of the historic Rose Center.  For more information, visit www.rosecenter.org or call 423-581-4330.

Strawberry Festival held on May 19, 2012 is sponsored by WCRK/WMTN Radio.  This free event features great bluegrass, classic country, oldies and bluegrass gospel music all day long.  Visitors can enjoy arts and crafts vendors, a Kiddie Korner, food vendors, and of course, strawberries!  Plan to enter your favorite strawberry recipe in this year's contest.  Locted at 510 W. Economy Road in Morristown.  The exact event date will be determined as the strawberries ripen, so check online at www.wcrk.com for more information as it becomes available.

Starlight Cinemas (May 25, June 8, July 13, 2012) Do you remember the magic and nostalgia of the drive in?  Morristown Parks and Recreation wants to bring that magical feeling to you.  Starlight Cinemas, moves in the park series at Fred Miller Park, will feature movie favorites perfect for the family, youth group, or a neighborhood gathering. East Tennessee Nissan July 4th Party in the Park at Cherokee Park will be held from 4-10 p.m.  This day-long musical celebration will entertain the entire family.  Throughout the day, enjoy a variety of bands, children's games and activities, ending with a fantastic concert by Country Music Singer/Songwriter Lee Brice and a spectacular firework display at sundown.  Companies who want to help sponsor the event or vendors wishing rent booth space the day of the event are encouraged to call Jeffrey Dillard at (865) 804-6617.  

Davy Crockett's 225th Birthday Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2012.  This special celebration includes children's activities, storytelling by Jim Claborn, free refreshments, music, frontier re-enactors, and demonstrators, along with the tours of the museum.  For more information, visit www.discoveret.org/crockett or call 423-587-9900.

Arts in the Park presented by the Morristown Art Association and the Morristown Parks and Recreation Department on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park located at 350 West 9th North Street in Morristown.  This year's event "Art in the Heart of Hamblen County" will feature the artwork of Morristown Art Association members.  Two-dimensional art, as well as sculpture, will be on display and available for purchase.  Enjoy performing arts entertainment and children's activities.  Admission is free.  For more information, visit www.mymorristown.com or call 423-586-0260.

Myers Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze offers a number of special events throughout the year, especially in the fall,  including the ever popular Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze, Country Ham and Jam Day, and Trail of Terror.  For more information on these special events, hayrides, or the Greenhouse, visit www.myerspumpkinpatch.com

Scarecrows at the Park is a new autumn celebration presented by Morristown Parks and Recreation and will be held during the Children's Health Fair on October 6, 2012 at Fred Miller Park.  Fall into family fun with scarcrow decorating for display around the trails at the park.  Prizes to be awarded. BOO Fest The City of Morristown's Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate Halloween with "BOO Fest" on Monday, October 22, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. along the trail at Fred Miller Park.  Registration for this free event will begin at 4:45.  Trick or treat around the walking trail and visit all the fun booths.  For more information, please visit www.mymorristown.com or call 423-586-0260.

37th Annual Mountain Makins Festival will take place October 27-28, 2012.  Mountain Makins is a weekend folk life festival celebrating the traditions of Appalachia through music, dance, fine art, juried crafts, storytelling, demonstrations, regional authors, children's activities, food, and more.  Named a "Great Escape" by the New York Times in 2002, Recipient of the Southeast Tourism Award of Excellence in 2004, and also named by the Southeat Tourism Society as a "Top Twenty Event in the Southeast" in 2008.  For more information, please visit www.rosecenter.org or call 423-581-4330.
